The XII Laws of Pencil
I. Never shade in your own cast shadow.
II. Protect your paper from any damage.
III. Keep your pencil sharp at all times.
IV. Always shade in a forward moving direction.
V. Graze the paper with a delicate touch.
VI. Preserve the white of the paper for the highest value.
VII. Never place your hand on a shaded area.
VIII. Never layer soft lead over hard lead.
IX. Avoid fixed grips and marked preferences.
X. Darken by layering rather than applied pressure.
XI. Never shade at an angle passing 90 degrees of your meridian.
XII. Always catch a falling pencil.
