What the drawing demonstrates

The study treats the instrument as recursive: the acoustic curve shapes sound when the violin is played, and the same curve contains sound at a more fundamental level, hidden in its geometry.

The outer curve of the 1711 instrument is resolved into the circles that compose it. The center of each circle becomes a coordinate against a vertical pitch axis whose smallest unit is a semitone — so the form itself reads as notes, translated to music and color through natural number.

How the print edition works

Each print shows the same violin and is marked 1 of 24 through 24 of 24. Its price is shown before purchase. Prints 4, 7, 10, and 12 include an original theory page. Print 13 includes The Split of The Structure.
